Emergency Preparedness
The Town of Fort Myers Beach encourages the public to be prepared for emergency situations.

- Monitor the Town's Facebook and Twitter social media outlets. The Town's experience has been that Facebook remains the most reliable in an emergency situation when cell and internet service is down. Beach Talk Radio is another Facebook page that the Town will ask to spread messages, and it remained operational after Hurricane Ian in September 2022.
- Monitor local media and their social media outlets. Don't forget radio! WGCU will be a radio station that the Town will use to share messages. After hurricane Ian when power, internet and cell service were down, WGCU was one of the few stations that retained cell service and internet. WGCU is affiliated with the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network which is a group of 13 public radio stations that cover nearly all of the State of Florida and exist to continue operating in emergencies.
- Monitor the social media outlets of Lee County, the Lee County Sheriff's Office, and the Fort Myers Beach Fire District
