Utilities

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Lee County Utilities will be temporarily converting its disinfectant process from chloramines to free chlorine residual from May 1 through May 21, 2025. This is a routine measure that is typical for water utilities using chloramines as its primary disinfectant.

Anyone who uses a kidney dialysis machine at home should contact his or her equipment supplier so the proper filtering equipment may be installed. Tropical fish or aquatic animal owners should contact a local tropical fish store for appropriate pretreatment of water before adding water to tanks. Customers may notice a temporary change in the taste, odor, and color of the water, which is not harmful. Again, this is a routine measure to ensure our customers of clean, safe potable water.

The Utilities Department is daily receiving a high volume of calls and emails with questions and our team is working diligently to help everyone as quickly as possible. To help us serve you and all customers more effectively, we are requesting that all questions be sent by email to utilities@fmbgov.com. We will get back to you as quickly as we can!
PLEASE NOTE – All residents are required to pay stormwater fees. If you use pay your water bill with a credit card, there is a 3.5 percent credit card processing fee added. This fee was approved by Town Council in the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget which began on October 1, 2022. To avoid the credit card fee, use one of the following methods:
- Change your payment method in your online account to withdraw your payment directly from your bank account

TIPS ON BOILING WATER

1.  Fill a pot or pan with cold water.
2.  Start timing after the water boils. (You may see little bubbles forming at the edges of the pot; these are just air bubbles from the water; when steady streams of big bubbles are sent up from the bottom of the pot, your water is starting to boil.)
3.  Boil for one full minute.
4.  Boil as much water in a pot as you can comfortably lift without spilling. Caution should always be           exercised when handling boiling water to minimize the risk of burns.
