[ARCHIVED] Mound House & Bay Oaks partially re-opening on Tuesday, May 19

On Tuesday, May 19, 2020, Mound House Museum and weight and cardio rooms at Bay Oaks Recreational Center will re-open with limits on time and capacity. The address for Bay Oaks is 2731 Oak Street and the address for Mound House is 451 Connecticut Street.

These partial re-openings are due to the announcement on Friday, May 15, from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis about his Phase 1 plans for re-opening the state, which include museums and gyms.

At Bay Oaks, weight and cardio rooms will be for four people at a time starting each hour. Sessions will be for 45 minutes to allow for sanitizing between sessions. Reservations will start on each hour from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Reservations must be made at least two hours in advance by calling 239-765-4222. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

Mound House Museum will re-open on Tuesday, May 19, and operating days will be Tuesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum will allow 50 percent of the usual amount of guests in at one time for self-guided tours. Public restrooms will be open during the same time as the Museum.

The grounds at Bay Oaks and Mound House continue to be open to the public from sunrise to sunset. At Bay Oaks, the community pool, ball fields, public restrooms and playground are closed until further notice.

Guests at both locations will be asked to follow sanitary guidelines, particularly hand-washing and social-distancing, set by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These and other guidelines will be posted around the grounds.
