Environmental staff coordinate, permit and implement conservation, environmental and marine resource projects in Fort Myers Beach as directed by Town Council. Staff are committed to developing and implementing policies and procedures to protect the Town’s most valuable assets, the beach and the waters that surround Estero Island.
Ongoing projects include monitoring the island’s water quality, coastal resource asset assessment, exotic plant control and habitat restoration, and beach sand renourishment. In addition, staff conduct environmental plan reviews on development and educate residents and contractors on how to be compliant with the Town’s ordinances.
