Mound Tours include: The Stories Beneath Our Feet exhibit was created by removing and excavating a 1950s in-ground swimming pool. The pool cavity has been transformed into a room within the shell mound where visitors have the opportunity to view the site’s 2,000 year history through the layers in the mound that constitute the room walls! The Plants & People Trail is a 400 foot winding pathway guided by our steadfast volunteers, who possess a wealth of information on the native landscape and how it was used by indigenous peoples and early pioneers, early American settlers for subsistence farming as well as developers growing gardens for hotels and restaurants. An experimental garden pays tribute to the study of plants in the past and today for pharmaceuticals and industry.
